Members Helping Members
Some of us are Union Stewards who appreciate the benefits that come with group brainstorming (or just asking another person's perspectives) about union-related issues. Some are Union Members who were removed from our role as Stewards due to not pledging our loyalty to the union's current CFO, Maryanne. Some were removed because we had Corrective Actions in our personnel records. And some of us have never been Stewards. But one of the things we all have in common is, none of that means that we cannot continue to help each other when members have questions about our union contract or questions about how the current union administration is handling (or not handling) concerns. Yes, we can help you determine whether the contract is being followed correctly and how to write a grievance if it isn't! Unlike competent union leaders, Marianne is afraid of free discussion where she does not control the narrative, so she closed comments on the union's Facebook site and discontinued a Steward Group Text Chat in favor of an app chat that she controls. We understand that it isn't easy when someone asks a hard question or to listen when someone shares a different perspective, but it is important that they have the opportunity to be heard. And often, an open discussion about a challenging issue will result in a better solution.
This is why we have established the 'Members Helping Members' (MHM) program!
In order to learn what will be most useful for you, we have a variety of options from which you can choose. You can Message Us (below), Email Us (Local30MembersUnited@yahoo.com), Text Us (858-208-3533), join the MHM Group Text (just let us know if you'd like to be included in a group text chat), or post on our Facebook, where current Local 30 Administration cannot censor you. If you'd like to volunteer to assist members with their questions, just let us know and we will add you! And don't worry, you don't need to have all the answers in order to help others (no one does)!
